Landing a job begins with your resume. A resume is essentially your professional life on paper, the sum total of your work skills and experience on one sheet. While your resume will likely be competing against many others, here are some tips to help you stand out from the crowd.
State your objective: In a sentence or two, describe what your professional goal is.
Sell yourself: Describe what attributes you can bring to a new employer.
List accomplishments: Create a concise picture of what you have achieved.
Create an advantage: Describe volunteer or civic work, if it is relevant to the job.
Keep it short: Stay away from listing hobbies or details about your personal life.
Stay recent: Avoid going back more than 10-15 years.
Keep it simple: Fancy paper and/or special formats are not strong selling points.
